We (Heart) Reagan

We went to the Pediatric Cardiologist today.

Last week, Reagan's pediatrician (Dr. Elizabeth "Betty" Dickey - whom we love) heard a heart murmur. She stressed that it's probably nothing, but she wanted us to get it checked-out.

Even though we were reassured that it probably was not a problem, it's not a fun prospect to take your less than 2 month old to a cardiologist!

Anyway, we went and it was an interesting experience. When they were asking about family history, I was reminded that my cousin Bobby died when he was 15 years old. He had a heart problem all of his life and when he went in to finally resolve the issue, he passed away during open-heart surgery. This is not a happy memory to begin with, but when it comes up in a medical history for your daughter it's even less happy.

The end result of the exam is that Reagan is 100% fine and she'll most likely grow out of the murmur, we don't even have to go back to the cardiologist unless she still has it one year from now.

I was impressed by her heftiness though. She weighs 12 lb 11 oz and is 23 in. long. WOW, she's a chub!

Snow Day

She's pretty cute. We got to sleep-in today (snow day) so that's fun
for daddy!

She's got heart...

Reagan does have a slight heart murmur, so we'll be going to a
cardiologist in a week. Her pediatrician thinks it's not a problem and
something she'll grow out of, but better safe than sorry. Other than
that, she's great!

1 Month Check-Up

Check-Up

Reagan had her first real "check-up" after the one she had right out of the hospital.

I guess it's really a test of how we're doing as parents so far, in addition to how Reagan's doing as a daughter ;-)

She's very alert, able to raise her head, she's very strong, and gaining weight. She's 9lb 8oz (she was 8lb 1oz at birth & 7lb 12oz when she left the hospital).

She's in the 70th - 80th percentile for both height and weight.

To sum-up, she's healthy and doing great! Thanks for all the prayers, keep them coming!
