We (Heart) Reagan
We went to the Pediatric Cardiologist today.
Last week, Reagan's pediatrician (Dr. Elizabeth "Betty" Dickey - whom we love) heard a heart murmur. She stressed that it's probably nothing, but she wanted us to get it checked-out.
Even though we were reassured that it probably was not a problem, it's not a fun prospect to take your less than 2 month old to a cardiologist!
Anyway, we went and it was an interesting experience. When they were asking about family history, I was reminded that my cousin Bobby died when he was 15 years old. He had a heart problem all of his life and when he went in to finally resolve the issue, he passed away during open-heart surgery. This is not a happy memory to begin with, but when it comes up in a medical history for your daughter it's even less happy.
The end result of the exam is that Reagan is 100% fine and she'll most likely grow out of the murmur, we don't even have to go back to the cardiologist unless she still has it one year from now.
I was impressed by her heftiness though. She weighs 12 lb 11 oz and is 23 in. long. WOW, she's a chub!
